Aleta Elizabeth Wilson, 90 years of age, died at Keelson Harbour in Spirit Lake, Iowa on July 24, 2012 after a long illness. Aleta was born to August and Isabelle (Larson) Eichman on the family farm near Sibley, Iowa on February 9, 1922. She graduated from Sibley High School in 1938 and completed normal training to teach rural school. She taught for four years until she married Victor Wilson on June 14, 1944. They farmed east and south of Milford, Iowa, raising their six children. They moved into Milford in the mid-1980s. Victor died in 1995 and in 2007 Aleta moved to Keelson Harbour.
Aleta was a stay-at-home mom until the early 1970s when she started working at Buy Rite Food Center in Milford until her retirement. Aleta was very involved with 4-H. As a member she was especially proud of the trip she earned to the National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago. Aleta also received an award for her many years of service in the 4-H program. She did many volunteer activities throughout the community and at Union Memorial Church in Milford, where she an active member.
Aleta enjoyed baking, reading, crocheting and sewing, but mostly she loved being with her family, whether it was attending their many activities or just spending time together visiting. She often spoke of the wonderful times she and Victor had square dancing.
She is survived by her six children: Kenneth (Marsha) Wilson, Milford, IA; Victoria (Cary) Conover, Holstein, IA; Myrna (Robert) Drees, Carroll, IA; Marlys (Jeff) Stahly, Lake Park, IA; Alisa (Bruce) Sandahl, Hastings, NE and Kimberly (Mark) Erlandson, Mount Vernon, IA.
She is also survived by grandchildren: Timothy (Carlyn) Wilson, Jeffrey (Kristin) Wilson, Chad (Jill) Conover, Nathan (Nikki) Conover, Sonnet Conover, Leah Conover, Laura (Jason)
McNatt, Cara (Dustin) Bloom, Andra (Bob) Reason, Jessi (Todd) Drake, Justin (Christine) Stahly, Janna (Trevor) Christiansen, Marcee (Ben) Irlbeck, Elizabeth Erlandson and Matthew Erlandson.
Also surviving are great-grandchildren: Jacob and Reese Wilson, Molly and Greta Wilson, Cade, Noah, Lucas and Tyler Conover, Caitlyn Gottschalk, Chloe Gottschalk, Alexandra Conover, Ailey and Ellison McNatt, Elyse Bloom, Elliot and Ava Reason, Taylor, Korinn and Jonah Drake, Jake and Hayden Stahly, Caleb Christiansen, and Kaia Irlbeck.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Thelma Eichman, St. Ansgar, IA and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and siblings Thomas Eichman, Leona McDonald, John Eichman, and Fred Eichman.
