Ardyce Scheppmann

A funeral service for Ardyce Scheppmann, 88, of Spirit Lake, will be held Monday, January 6, 2020 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at the church. Burial will be at Our Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery in Lakefield, Minnesota. Ardyce LaVonne Scheppmann passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loving family on January 2, 2020. Ardyce was born July 9, 1931, to John E. and Evelyn (Habeck) Janssen in Worthington, Minnesota. Ardyce attended Ewington School through eighth grade and Okabena High School, graduating in 1949. She completed Nurses Aide training in Worthington. On August 6, 1950, she married her high school sweetheart, August R. Scheppmann. He was the quarterback and she was the cheerleader! They were blessed with four children, Rhonda, Rachelle, Reed and Randy. They started their life together in New Jersey and made their home in Okabena, Spirit Lake, Scottsdale and finally settling back in Spirit Lake. Ardyce was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law and Nana. She was kind and caring with a great sense of humor. She was a beautiful person inside and out and we will all miss her dearly. She is survived by her children, Rhonda Scheppmann, Rachelle (John) Traen, Reed (Peggy) Scheppmann, Randy Scheppmann and daughter-in-law, Pat Scheppmann; twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; her sister, Eunice (Merle) Baumgard; brothers, Terry Janssen and Merle (Connie) Janssen; brother-in-law, Lloyd Kruse and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, August Scheppmann; her parents, John and Evelyn Janssen and one sister, Verda Kruse.
