Funeral service for Arlene Wells, 92, of Spirit Lake, will be 2 pm, Saturday, July 1, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Arlene Norma Wells, daughter of William and Ida Guritz, was born on September 16, 1924, in Jackson, Minnesota. She passed away June 28, 2017, in Spirit Lake, Iowa at the age of ninety-two. She received her education at North Superior Consolidated High School. On September 8, 1946, Arlene was united in marriage to Walter Wells in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Arlene was the longest standing member of First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake. She was a generous woman of many talents including being a farm wife, seamstress, gardener, quilter and a long time caregiver for Walter. She always thought of, and put others first. She especially loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Arlene was a former 4-H leader and was active in the Presbyterian Women, Church Quilters Group and delivered Meals on Wheels. Arlene is survived by her five children, David Wells, Nancy Radcliffe, Marcia Wells (special friend Tucker), Deb (Jeff) Kyle and Dale (Susan) Wells; grandchildren, James Christopher, Annie Wells, Jess (Tracey) Radcliffe, Amy (Mark) Benge, Aaron Kyle and Casey Kyle, Scott Foley, Rachael (Mike) Jud; four great-grandchildren, Brenna, Keagan, Miranda and Nathan; brother Ray (Jane) Guritz, sister, Lois Lundstrom. Preceding Arlene in death were her husband, Walter; her parents; brother, Arthur Guritz; sister, Dorothy Stumo; and son-in-law Mike Welle.
