Arnie Van Pelt

A funeral service for Arnie Van Pelt, Jr., age 61, of Lake Park and formerly of Spirit Lake, will be held Friday, November 30, 2018 at 2:00pm at United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. Burial will be at Lakeview Gardens. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 29th from 5:00-7:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Arnold George Van Pelt, Jr., the son of Arnold Sr. and Violet (Stevens) Van Pelt, was born July 17, 1957 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Arnie graduated from Spirit Lake High School with the class of '76. Arnie was married to Jean Van Pelt in 1985. The family lived in Spirit Lake where Arnie worked for the street department in Spirit Lake until his retirement. He later married Betsey Heuer in September, 2018. Arnie enjoyed car races, horses and time with his family. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. Arnie passed away November 25, 2018 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake at sixty-one years of age. He is survived by his two sons, Arnold Van Pelt, III of Spencer, Iowa and George Van Pelt of Spirit Lake, Iowa; wife, Betsey Van Pelt of Lake Park; step-children, Nate Heuer of Lake Park, Matt (Autume) Heuer of Harrisburg, South Dakota and Mandy (Matt) Urban or Northwood, Iowa; brother, Brad Van Pelt of Lake Park; two sisters, Cindy (Van Pelt) Axtell of Havelock, Iowa and Debbie (Van Pelt) Benton of Walterboro, South Carolina; four granddaughters and three grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. Arnie was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Violet Van Pelt, his grandparents and granddaughter, Brianna Van Pelt.
