Bart Bonnstetter

A Celebration of Life for Bart James Bonnstetter, age 57, of Milford, Iowa, will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, April 25, 2025, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Visitation will take place from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.

Bart passed away at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on April 16, 2025, with his wife Cathy by his side. After an unexpected battle against cancer, Bart spent his final days with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Bart was born on December 25, 1967, to James and Mavis (Geurink) Bonnstetter. In his youth, he spent endless hours with his friends and at the lake. He enjoyed sports and was involved in football and basketball. He was a graduate of Milford High School in 1986 and continued his education at Buena Vista University to receive his Bachelor of Arts degree, double majoring in accounting and business management. He graduated Summa Cum Laude, receiving an academic excellence award. He enjoyed working at Mau Marine as their warranty manager.

Bart was united in marriage to Cathy Youngdahl August 24, 2001, at Gull Point State Park. Bart cherished time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed going camping and boating as a family, as well as hiking and traveling. Bart was passionate about golf and enjoyed playing in a league with his coworkers and his son Dylan.

Bart was a quiet source of strength, a steady presence, and a loving soul.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Cathy; his children Dylan, Emma, Courtney (Brody), and Bryce; his grandchildren Connor, Calvin, and Eden; his mother Mavis; siblings Bret (Karen) Bonnstetter and Bridget Wahl; mother- and father-in-law Harold and Mary Lou Youngdahl; Cathy’s siblings Connie (Tim) Mueller, Cindy Youngdahl, Chuck (Marillen) Youngdahl, and Cheryl (Jim) Vierhout; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father James.

His memory will be cherished forever and always.
