Services for Mrs. Becky Schroeder, 92 of Spirit Lake, will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery. A visitation with family present from 5-7 PM will take place on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Becky Jane Schroeder was born September 21, 1924 in Estherville, Iowa to Herbert and Daisy (Reed) Bradfield. Becky graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1943 and later from Long Beach School of Business in 1945. Becky was married to Earl Keith Jr. in 1945 and one child was born, Ellen Essick. On May 28, 1950, Becky married Vernne Schroeder and three children were born, Stephen, Kathy and Kirk. Becky was confirmed on March 21, 1951 and was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church serving as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a member of the LWML, Alter Guild and Lakes Regional Hospital Auxiliary, serving on it's board. After retiring from farming, the couple moved to Spirit Lake in 1974 where she was employed at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, which is now called Lakes Regional Healthcare, retiring in 1989. In 1999, Becky worked part time at Voluntary Action Center and enjoyed volunteering throughout these years. In 2007 she received the Governor's Volunteer Award. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren which were very special to her. On April 17, 2017, Becky passed away at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake at ninety-two years of age. She is survived by her children, Ellen Essick of Spirit Lake, Steve (Leslie) Schroeder of Waconia, Minnesota, Kathy (Kim) Mast of South Sioux City, Nebraska and Kirk Schroeder of Spirit Lake; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; special friends, Patti Bruhns and Diane Heida. Becky was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Pat Younker and her son-in-law, Don Essick.
