A family service will be held at a later date for Bernadette Sanderson, age 87, of Ruthven at the Union Cemetery in Groton, South Dakota.
Bernadette Eugenia (Barondau) Sanderson was born September 8, 1926 in Onaka, South Dakota to Joseph A. Barondau and Magdaline Daschle. She was baptized, confirmed and receive her First Holy Communion at St. Johns Catholic Church in Onaka. She graduated from Huron High School and Watertown Beauty Academy. She was a nurse's aide from 1968-1994. She loved every minute of it. She also worked at her son Gary's café from 1994-2008. She loved helping people.
Bernie's interest included reading, ice fishing, dancing, going to casinos and traveling. Bernie's travels included numerous trips to Las Vegas as well as trips to Alaska to visit her sons and grandchildren and to places like Hawaii, Caribbean Island, Spain, Rio de Janeiro and Algeria, Africa with her husband.
Bernadette was united in marriage to Delbert Sanderson on June 21, 1949. To this union, seven sons were born, Joseph (Linda) of New Hope, MN, Chuck of Fairbanks, AK, Gary (Becky) of Ruthven, IA, Jeff of Fairbanks, AK, Delbert (Laurie) of Spencer, IA, Michael (Cindy) of Ruthven, IA and Robert of Minnesota. She is survived by all seven sons and two sisters, Annette Weisbeck of Pipestone, MN and Delores Cunningham of Wadena, MN; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Delbert; two brothers and two sisters.
