Betty Bockwoldt

Betty Bockwoldt, age 73, of Spirit Lake, passed away Sunday, November 24th at her home. Services will be 11 am Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Betty (Gatzke) Bockwoldt daughter of Erwin and Elizabeth Gatzke was born in Wadena MN on September 22nd 1940. Betty was raised on a small farm by Wadena MN where she attended school until she graduated in 1958. Betty was an avid singer in school and sang with her mother in church. After high school she married Gary Ader, to this union 3 children were born. During this time she had a radio show in Menomonie WI where she met and worked with the Kennedy's during his presidential election. The family then moved to Eden Prairie MN where Betty started working doing voice over commercials. In the early 70's the family then moved to Spirit Lake IA where she worked as a legal secretary. Betty later married Larry Bockwoldt and lived near Alta IA on a small farm until his passing. In 2002 Betty moved to Montgomery IA so she could be closer to family, where she resided until her passing on November 24th 2013. Betty was a wonderful cook; she enjoyed creating special dishes for family and friends. She was an avid reader, very artistic and enjoyed crafting. Betty was also a very generous person; she had a caring and open heart for people and animals that were in need. Betty is survived by her 3 children, Carmen (Terry) Wiese of Spirit Lake IA, Chris (Rebecca) Ader of Trout Lake WA, Craig Ader of Milford IA, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and her sister Anita (Larry) Swan of Walla Walla WA. Betty is preceded in death by her parents and sister Annette Derby. Lastly, the family would like to Thank Lisa Delgado for all the wonderful care she gave our Mother.
