A funeral service for Betty Hamann, 87, of Lake Park will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, September 29, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park. Interment will be at Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park. Visitation will begin at 5 pm, Thursday, September 28, 2017, with the family present from 5 - 7 pm, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Lake Park.
Betty Jean Hamann, the daughter of Louise (Hoppe) and August Kamrath, was born May 14, 1930 in Rushmore, Minnesota.
On September 16, 1951, Betty was united in marriage to Donald H. Hamann in Round Lake, Minnesota. They lived in various locations during Don's three years of service before they settled in Lake Park in 1954. The couple enjoyed wintering in Arizona for twenty years and after Don's death in 2015, Betty moved to Worthington, Minnesota.
Betty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park, American Legion Auxiliary and Presbyterian Women. She enjoyed square dancing, flower gardening, sewing, crafts, shopping, camping, vacationing and working their concession stands. Betty also enjoyed entertaining, playing cards, holiday decorating and watching the Minnesota Twins.
Betty passed away September 23, 2017 at South Shore Care/Rehab Center in Worthington, Minnesota at eighty-seven years of age.
She is survived by her daughters, Claudette (Daniel) Luitjens and Carolyn (Michael) Rolph; special dog, JJ; sisters-in-law, Delores Bond and Mae Kamrath; three nieces and five nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Don Hamann; her parents; two brothers and two sisters.
