Betty Lorraine (Wilson) Munster, the daughter of Sam and Elsie (Gathman) Wilson was born on September 17, 1927 in Hartley, Iowa. She spent her childhood in Hartley and graduated from Hartley High School in 1945. Upon graduation, Betty taught rural school until 1949.
Betty was united in marriage to Harold Munster on June 12, 1949 in Hartley, Iowa. The couple owned and operated a grocery store in Hartley. They lived for a short time in Sioux City until and moving to Spirit Lake, where they bought the IGA Grocery Store. She enjoyed working in the store until they closed. Betty worked for Mathew Variety Store, Coast to Coast, The Inn Gift Shop and Ben Franklin. Betty worked at Walmart for eighteen years when she retired. Betty enjoyed flowers, bingo, playing cards, sewing, crocheting and reading.
Betty was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Her confirmation verse was Col. 3:2 - Set your affection on things above, not on things on earth.
She passed away at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa at the age of 83.
She is survived by her sons and their families: Jeff and wife Rene' of Phoenix, Arizona, Brad and wife Sherri of Lake Park, Iowa, Greg and wife Michelle of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; three grandchildren: Alex of Phoenix, Arizona, Ryan and Marissa of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; a nephew Bill Pippy and wife Rhonda and family; brothers-in-law Richard and Phyllis Munster and family of Arkansas, Dennis and Judy Munster and family of Oregon; other relatives and many friends.
