A funeral service for Betty Lou Ogle, age 80, of Spirit Lake, will be held Friday, June 16, 2017 at 1:30 PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Burial will be at Superior Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 15th from 4:00-7:00 PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.
Betty Lou Von Holdt Ogle, the daughter of Emil and Viola (Gerdes) Von Holdt, was born September 3, 1936. She was raised and educated in Round Lake, Minnesota.
On November 23, 1956, she married Alvin Charles Ogle. They made their home in Spirit Lake where they raised their five children. After working for Berkleys for over thirty years, Betty retired and became the stay at home entertainment center for the entire family. In her early years, she loved to cook and was known for her fried chicken and gravy that she cooked for her brother, Daryle. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, marbles, puzzle books and watching the birds, especially hummingbirds, orioles and finches. She was also an avid Twins fan and enjoyed watching them play. Betty enjoyed being on facebook and loved having cookouts with her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Betty passed away at Northshire Nursing Home in Spencer, Iowa on June 11, 2017 at eighty years of age.
She is survived by her children, Penny Boysel and her husband, Jim, of Milford, Floyd Ogle of Milford, Dawn Carkhuff and her husband, Dan, of Spirit Lake, Deanna Tackett and her husband, Bob, of Spirit Lake and Donald Ogle and his wife, Sheryl, of Spirit Lake; brother, Daryle and his wife, Linda, of Sarasota, Florida; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; other family and many friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Ogle and her parents.
