Betty Ann Stellmach

Services for Betty Stellmach, age 83, of Milford, will be 11 am, Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Union Memorial Church in Milford. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and will continue after the service with the luncheon. Betty Ann Olson Stellmach, the daughter of Leon and Helena (Jensen) Olson, was born August 5, 1932 on the family farm near Terril. After attending country school and Lake Center, she graduated from Terril High School. On June 15, 1950, Betty was married to Bernard Michael Stellmach in Terril. The family lived in Terril, Ruthven and for a short time in Wichita, Kansas. For the past forty-five years, Betty lived in Milford, Iowa and she worked at Berkleys in Spirit Lake for over twenty-seven years. Betty taught Sunday School for all of her children and she was a room mother when they were in elementary school. She enjoyed church, dinner date, card club, travel, flowers and reading. Most of all, Betty loved her family and friends. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, good food and good memories. Bernie and her were close with their families and most Saturdays were spent visiting back and forth with siblings and their families. Sundays were spent with church and parents. Betty loved entertaining and was a marvelous cook. Love abounded and they had talent for listening and were frequently asked for their help and opinions. She loved to read and even after losing her sight still listened to books every day. Betty passed away October 31, 2015 at Hawkeye Care Center in Milford at eighty-three years of age. She is survived by her son, Rick (Barb) of Iowa City, IA, Robb (Martha) of Andover, MN, Tim of Milford, IA, Lori (Roger) Ohrt of Fort Dodge, IA, James of Iowa City and daughter-in-law, Tootie of Milford; grandchildren, John (Tami) Stellmach of Harper, IA, Michael (Samantha) Stellmach of Milford, Allison (Matt) Casek of Milford, Stephanie (Tom) Kirkpatrick of Sioux Falls, SD, Samantha (Jeff) Huseman of Arnolds Park, IA, Kai Stellmach of Andover, Tana Ohrt of Cedar Rapids, IA, Gary (Keri) Ohrt of Port Orchard, WA, Eric (Alysa) Ohrt, of Madrid, IA; great-grandchildren, Khory Nobles, Addilyn Larsen, Aubry and Avery Casek and Olivia Kirkpatrick; brother, Richard (Dick) Olson of Terril; in-laws, Thelma (Chet) Lich, Gloria (Jerry) Becker and Gary (Charlotte) Stellmach; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Dorothy (Elwood) Hyatt and Arlene (Robert) Larson; brothers, Myrl (Esther) Olson and infant brother, Herbert; in-laws, Betty Olson, Tillie Olson, James (Jan) Stellmach, Vincent (Joyce) Stellmach and Bernard's parents, Michael (Lena) Stellmach.
