Betty Walker

A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 10:30am at Concordia Lutheran Church in Lake Park. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 2, 2013 after 4:00pm with the family present from 4:00-7:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Lake Park. Betty June Walker, daughter of Rudolph and Bertha (Lubben) Hansen, was born June 14, 1930 in Rost Township in Lakefield, Minnesota. She graduated from high school in Lakefield. On June 29, 1951, Betty was united in marriage to Bernell Walker in Rost Township. The couple made their home near Lake Park, Iowa. Betty was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Lake Park as well as the Diamond Lake Ladies Club. She was active in bowling leagues and enjoyed playing cards and games. Betty passed away December 28, 2012 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at eighty-two years of age. She is survived by her husband, Bernell Walker; children, Bruce Walker and Bernita (James) Andersen; grandchildren, Amy Walker, Jason Walker, Lisa (Wade) Mustard, Michael Andersen and fiancé, Lisa Schwinghammer, and Melissa (Bobby) Desai; great-grandchildren, Daniel Dressel, Matthew Mustard and Rowen Desai; one sister, Shirley Zellar of Bemiji, Minnesota. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; son, Brian Walker and one sister, Colleen Hansen.
