A funeral service for Betty Wallace, 75, of East Lake Okoboji, will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Visitation with the family present will begin one hour prior to service time at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the Milford or Spirit Lake Public Library.
Betty Julia Wallace of the East Okoboji area, passed away in her home on December 16, 2017 after a long battle of MSA, a form of Parkinson disease. Although she suffered a lot, she never complained. She was a gentle soul, liked everyone and didn't have one enemy.
Betty was born August 16, 1942 at the Spirit Lake Hospital. Her parents were Ernest and Julia Biermann. She grew up on a farm south of Montgomery and was educated at Spirit Lake School, graduating in 1960.
Betty married George Wallace of Milford on February 4, 1962. To this marriage, three sons were born, Daniel, Todd and Tim. For over forty years, she was employed at Consumers Lumber and later Citation Homes before retiring when the disease made it impossible for her to work.
She is survived by her husband, George Wallace of over fifty-five years; sons, Todd (Jennifer) Wallace and Tim (Kelli) Wallace; grandchildren, Cody, Erin, Jacob and Julia; one sister-in-law, Gloria Lamb; brothers-in-law, Don Lamb and Ted Carpenter; many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Julie Biermann; one son, Daniel; sisters-in-law, Anna Pike and Sylvia Carpenter; and brother-in-law, Clifford Pike.
