Betty Wright was born September 28, 1923, the daughter of Guy and Mabel (Harris) Bumgarner in Numa, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Numa.
While living and working in Chicago, Illinois, Betty met Ford Wright, Jr. They were united in marriage on February 22, 1943 in Arkansas. The couple soon moved to Arnolds Park, where they worked and raised their family.
Betty was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Arnolds Park. Betty was very talented in many kinds of handiwork. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, crocheting afghans as well as the finer crochet of edgings and doilies. In the last years, she spent many hours crocheting and gathering fruits for making jellies and jams.
Betty passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake at eighty-eight years of age.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Gottsche and her husband, David, of Milford; granddaughter, Jennifer Lee, her husband Bruce, and their sons, David and Gabriel, and granddaughter Emily Gottsche. She is also survived by her sister Patricia and brothers, Don and Robert.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ford, son Michael, siblings, Gretchen, Charlene, Carroll and Richard and nephews Jack and Daniel.
