Beverly Petersen

Beverly Ann Petersen was born December 21, 1929 in Okoboji, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Lola (Heldridge) Wilson. She was raised in Okoboji, graduating from Arnolds Park High School. She was united in marriage to Frank Gilmore on January 8, 1949 in Jackson, Minnesota. The couple had three children, Kris, Keri and Karla. Beverly married James Petersen on September 30, 1978 at Calvary United Methodist Church in Arnolds Park. They resided in Arnolds Park, where Beverly worked as a Postal Clerk in Okoboji and Spirit Lake. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Arnolds Park. She enjoyed fishing with her best friend and cousin, Jeanne Menefee. She also enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards, crossword puzzles and arts and crafts. She will be missed greatly by family, friends and the "gang" at McDonalds. Beverly passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at her daughter's (Kris Berning) home in Milford at seventy-seven years of age. Left to survive are her daughters, Kris Berning of Milford, Keri Dietrich of Arizona and Karla Dougherty of Arnolds Park; grandchildren, Jaime Berning and Thad Thomas, Brandon Berning and fiancé, Shelly Polaskik, Chad Jones, Aaron Jones and Karli Dietrich; great grandchildren, Paisley, Kenton, Darby and Camry Jones, Alexis Jones, Parker Turner, Anthony and Dylan Burgess. Also surviving are two sisters, Lorraine (Frank) Little and Jo Ann Thompson, several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lola Wilson, grandson, Korey Halbur, husband, Jim Petersen, son-in-law, Bob Berning and cousin and best friend, Jeanne Menefee.
