Private family services will be held for Beverly Steuben, age 80, of Spencer. Beverly passed away July 18, 2015 as the result of a motor vehicle accident.
Beverly "Bubby" Ann Steuben was born September 1, 1934 in Lakefield, Minnesota, the daughter of Roy and Elsie (Denker) Jochims. She was raised in Lake Park and graduated as Valedictorian of her class.
Bubby was united in marriage to John Engel in 1954 in Lake Park, Iowa. They made their home in Southern California where they raised their two children Elyse and Bryan. They returned to the Midwest in 1974.
She then married Ron Steuben and they made their home in Everly, Iowa until he passed in 2007. Shortly thereafter she moved to Spencer, Iowa.
She enjoyed working with her mother at Elsie's Café as a waitress. Bubby attended Cosmetology school in Spencer, Iowa with her sister in 1977. She enjoyed working as a stylist for many years. She was currently working at Wal-Mart in Spencer, Iowa. She had worked there since it opened and enjoyed her co-workers and helping customers and changed many watch batteries.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church in Everly,Iowa. She enjoyed reading, dancing, Word Power, and exercising. Bubby had a classy sense of style. You would never catch her without her pink polish and lipstick. She was unique, quick witted, kind hearted, generous, and a very hard worker. She always looked forward to her Sunday morning talks with her sister, Sharon. She loved her children dearly and adored her grandchildren and great children.
Bubby left this earth on Saturday, July 18, 2015 in Lake Park, Iowa at eighty years of age.
Bubby was survived by daughter, Elyse Engel (Mike Webber) of Lake Park, Iowa; son, Bryan Engel (special friend, Brenda) of Orleans, Iowa; stepchildren, Lori and Kelly; grandchildren, Ryan Bachand (Jennifer) of Wilmington, North Carolina, Amy Hanson (Matt) of Knob Noster, Missouri, Krystina Moore (Ryan) of Land O Lakes, Florida, Jenny Utterback (Noah) of Algona, Iowa, Adam Claussen of Milford, Iowa, Brad Engel of Prior Lake, Minnesota and nine great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Sharon Hayostek (special friend, Jerry); several nieces, nephews, her Wal-Mart family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ron, and daughters-in-law, Lynn Engel and Betty Engel.
