Bob Watt

A funeral service for Bob Watt, age 96, of Milford, will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 10:30am at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Burial will be at Milford Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00am Tuesday morning at the funeral home. Robert (Bob) Dale Watt was born on October 21, 1918 in Wright County, Vernon Township, Dows, Iowa. He was the son of George Herbert (Bert) and Stella Wescott Watt. He was their middle child having an older sister, Ruth Granau and a younger sister, Mable Ackerman. He graduated from Popejoy High School in 1935. On March 10, 1947 he married Irene Bernadine Korth LaRue in Clear Lake, Iowa. They had two sons Steve and Jim who joined Irene's daughter Norene from her previous marriage. The couple made their home near Dows, Iowa where they farmed and milked cows. In 1963 they moved to a farm north of Armstrong, Iowa where they farmed and raised their family until they retired in 1984. After retiring they moved to Milford, Iowa where they could be closer to the family. Bob enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, fishing, raising flowers and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Bob passed away on January 16, 2015 at the Milford Nursing Center in Milford at ninety-six year of age. He is survived by his sons, Steve (Patricia) Watt of Estherville, Iowa and Jim (Wendy) Watt of Milford, Iowa; son-in-law, Marlin Wiarda of Hampton, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters and an infant brother; daughter, Norene.
