Roberta (Bobbie Lea) Holden, daughter of Percy Travis and Isabelle Goodwin Travis was born August 8, 1939 in Princeton, Minnesota. In 1957 she graduated from Princeton High School and then earned a BA degree in Music Education from Concordia College. She taught elementary music for two years in Wyoming where she met a fellow teacher who loved to ballroom dance. Roger and Roberta were united in marriage on July 8, 1967 in Princeton, MN. The couple moved to Hacienda Heights, CA where she accepted her second elementary music position. The highlight of her career was in 1974 when she took 67 Small World Minstrel fourth grade students to perform in Canada with a thousand other elementary students. Some of the SWM group remained in contact with her and still speak highly of her influence on their lives. Music always played an important role in her life. Her next career began when they moved to Victorville, CA in the high desert. Bobbie Lea was the Transportation Director for Fleetwood RV and Manufactured Homes. In 1994 she received a “Breath of Fresh Air Award” and helped make Fleetwood the first company in the United States to make carpooling a condition of employment and to arrange bicycle commuting to work two days a week throughout the Inland Empire.

In 2006 she moved to Spirit Lake to live near relatives and enjoy the Midwest. She also enjoyed completing numerous intricate needlepoint projects. Her devotion to family members lent her the nickname Honey, and she enjoyed being a part of their lives. Bobbie Lea enjoyed a good laugh and was known for initiating many a prank. All of her life she was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church.

Roberta passed on May 10, 2024 and is survived by first cousins: David Travis of Renville,MN; William(Pamela) Travis of Anoka, MN; Robert (Collette) Travis of Spirit Lake, IA; Kathleen Esboldt of Shoreview, MN, and many loving relatives and friends.
