A funeral service for Bonnie Jensen, age 94, of Milford, will be held Monday, November 13, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Milford Cemetery.
Mrs. Jensen passed away November 9, 2017 at the Lake Park Care Center in Lake Park.
Bonnie was the youngest of eight children born to Elsie and Eugene Tuel on January 13, 1923. She was born and raised on the "Rose Hill Farm" in Lakeville Township. She attended a small country school, Excelsior School, and the last two years at Okoboji School where she graduated in 1940.
She married John D. Vance in 1944 at Sioux City, Iowa. Eventually they moved to "Rose Hill Farm" where they raised two adopted children, Nancy and Michael. John farmed until 1976 when they moved to Milford. John passed away in 1978. He was a wonderful husband and father. Later she married Don Jensen, formerly of Audubon. They shared an enjoyable eight years until his death in 1990.
Bonnie was a member of the Excelsior Methodist Church. She enjoyed wallpapering with Hilda Huelsbeck, sewing, cooking great meals, picnics and spending time with family.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Eugne and Elsie Tuel; two brothers, Harold Tuel and Kenneth Tuel; five sisters, Velma Reiter, Buelah Jones, Helen Seidel, Dorothy Collins and Jeanne Gibson, their spouses; one daughter, Nancy Bockman and one baby grandson. Her death marks the passing of her generation.
She is survived by her son, Michael Vance of Everett, Washington; four grandchildren, Melissa Osler, Nicole Bockman, John Vance and Anna Vance; ten great-grandchildren, Alexis, Brooke, Jayce, Holly, Jacob, Owyn, Olivia, Killian, Ashland and Ariana; one great-great-grandchild, Damien.
