Brian Morris

November 3, 1966 — December 8, 2024

Memorial Service for Brian Morris, age 58, of Milford will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at 2:00pm at Good News Community Church in Okoboji. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 1:00-2:00pm at the church. A luncheon will take place immediately following the service.

Brian was born to Donna Couch and Robert Morris on November 3, 1966, in Pomona, California. He spent the majority of his childhood in West Covina, California, where he met his first love, Patty Hanson Hoferman, in junior high school. Brian went on to graduate from Coronado High School in 1985.

Shortly after high school Brian enlisted in the United States Army. He and Patty had their first child, Michael Morris, in 1989, then they moved to the Iowa Great Lakes area in 1990. In 1991 their second child, Dakota Morris, was born. Brian and Patty parted ways in 1995 and remained friends.

In 1997 Brian married his new love, Jennifer Sidles Moran. During their marriage Brian and Jennifer grew their family to include Shelby Morris, born in 1998, and Taylor Morris, born in 2000. They shared their lives together until they divorced in 2001.

Brian then met Joey Thompson Gude, and they married in 2006. They lived happily together with their blended family of seven children until they divorced in 2008.

Brian lived life untamed and unapologetically. He was a gregarious rebel and a force to be reckoned with. He had many struggles during his life’s journey, but never detoured from the kind, compassionate, and loving man we all knew him to be. Brian always looked out for the underdog. He would give you the shirt off his back, the shoes on his feet, or the last dollar in his pocket if you were in need. Brian was the type of man that would not miss the opportunity to ride his Harley for fundraising organizations such as Shayle Bee. He never passed a Veteran without thanking them for their service or passed a stranded motorist without stopping and rendering assistance.

Brian opened his heart to God many years ago. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and his faith allowed him the strength to obtain sobriety on November 7, 2022. With clarity and a righteous lifestyle, Brian was rewarded. He mended many relationships that were damaged by the demons of drugs and alcohol. He started his own business, Dynamic Concrete, and grew it to be successful and financially prosperous. Most importantly, he was able to heal his soul and live with peace in his heart.

Brian was diagnosed with wild growth glioblastoma in March 2024. For over nine months he fought hard and valiantly with his mother Donna and stepfather Ray by his side. The disease grew stronger than his body and soul could handle. God called him home to ease his pain on December 8, 2024.

Brian leaves to mourn: his mother Donna and stepfather Ray; his children Michael (Katie), Dakota, Shelby (Cynthia), Taylor, and Nathan Murphy; his grandchildren Katrina, Kayden, Karson, Sophia, Kaleb, Keaton, Keelan, Mason, Kayley, Wyatt, and Bryer; his sister Jennifer and brother-in-law Kyle; aunts and uncles Char and Lee, Donnie and Annette; cousins Leciel, Mary, Wesley, and Fabiana; and an abundance of friends that touched his life and loved him without fault and had become part of his family.

Brian was preceded in death by his father Robert Morris, his grandparents Donald and Mary Couch, and his brother in God, Lee Hoferman.
