A funeral service for Bruce Wayne Hanson, age 67, of rural Jackson, Minnesota, will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Crosswinds Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will begin at 10 am until service time at the church.
Bruce Wayne Hanson, the son of Wilbur and Barbara (Wheeler) Hanson, was born September 10, 1955 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. After graduating from high school, Bruce completed two years of technical school in Jackson, Minnesota. Bruce lived south of Jackson, Minnesota where he lived and farmed throughout his life.
On August 22, 2015, Bruce was united in marriage to Debra Constance Hanson in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Bruce enjoyed horseback riding, hunting, hiking in the wilderness, fishing, camping and snowmobiling. He loved construction work, woodworking, blacksmithing and built his own cabin in Montana. Bruce was also an avid reader, enjoyed country music and liked to dance, especially the jitterbug.
Bruce passed away as a result of a snowmobile accident on January 25, 2023 in North Dakota. He was sixty-seven years of age.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Hanson; daughter, Sarah Hanson; stepsons, Kevin Kerrigan (Marissa), Daniel Kerrigan (Jessica) and Patrick Kerrigan; stepdaughter, Debye Kerrigan; grandchildren, Mona Li Kerrigan, Brady Walek, Bennett Kerrigan and Elijah Goldsborough; brother, Bill Hanson; sister, Nancy Michelson (Greg).
Bruce was preceded in death by his mom, Barbara Hanson and dad, Wilbur Hanson and extended family.
