Byron Breffle, age 77, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny, IA surrounded by his loved ones after losing his battle with cancer. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, on July 25th, at Lake Park Methodist Church. A Visitation will precede the services from 10:00 - noon on July 25th at Lake Park Methodist Church.
Byron was born on June 28th, 1941 in Lake Park, IA to Robert and Violet (White) Breffle. He graduated from Lake Park High School. After graduation, Byron served in the US Army. He met Marilyn Countryman after leaving the Army and they married on September 6, 1964. Bryon made his living as a salesman. His greatest enjoyments were his grandchildren, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeye football team, and caring for all of the creatures in his backyard (his 'zoo'). He also found great pride in cheering on the Ironman athletes that surrounded him including his son and his doctors.
He is survived by his children Barb (Curt) Kesterson, Barry (Michelle) Breffle and Bev (Justin) Murphy, 8 grandchildren Elizabeth Kesterson, Connor Kesterson, Jordan Breffle, Caitlin Breffle, Natalie Breffle, Katie Murphy, Kale Murphy and Kennedy Murphy and 1 great grandson Easton Swift.
Also surviving are his brother Robert Breffle, sisters, Julie (Bill) Stofferan and Brenda (Alan) Lanphere; several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Judy and his brother Jim.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Administration Central Iowa or Hospice of the Midwest.
