Carol Jean Rasmussen

A memorial gathering for Carol Jean Rasmussen, 73, of Lake Park, will begin at 5 pm, with the family present from 5 - 7 pm, Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Carol Jean Rasmussen, the daughter of John and Laura (Olson) Johnson, was born on January 13, 1943 in Luverne, MN. She attended the Sioux Valley School. She lived in Lake Park, IA most of her life. Carol married Larry Rasmussen on August 11, 1988 in Rapid City, SD. They honeymooned out west (Montana and Wyoming) on a motorcycle ride followed by a wedding reception at the Sioux Valley Log Cabin. They enjoyed various motorcycle trips to Sturgis and trips to Las Vegas. She worked as an interior decorator for many years. Her passion was painting and wallpapering. Carol loved to be on the go, especially when it involved visiting with her family or friends. She enjoyed her winter travels to Arizona, eating out, shopping and especially enjoyed taking the little ones to the movies. Carol enjoyed spending a lot time with her sisters on various outings, whether it was eating out, shopping, or gambling. She loved to have coffee and visit with her close friends and family at her home. Carol passed away on March 15, 2016 at her home in Lake Park, Iowa at seventy-three years of age. She is survived by her husband Larry Rasmussen of Lake Park, IA; son, Allan (Wanda) Garloff of Lake Park, IA; daughter, Ranae (Richard) Reimers of Sioux Valley, MN; son, Shane (Tara) Garloff of Round Lake, MN; son Brandon Ahrenstorff (girlfriend, Janice Gilmore) of Lake Park, IA; eight grandchildren, Heidi (Brian) Martens, Daniel (Emily) Garloff, Michael Reimers, Mitchel (Sara) Reimers, Roshay Reimers (fiancé, Tyson Gath), Gavin Garloff, Levi Garloff, and baby Garloff (arriving in June); six great-grandchildren, Kendra Martens, Brooklyn Martens, Blake Martens, Brock Garloff, Ty Garloff, and Lucas Reimers; sister, Linda (Richard) Voss of Sioux Valley, MN; sister, Nancy (Richard) Wulf of Sioux Valley, MN; sister-in-law, Bernyce Johnson of Austin, MN; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Laura; brother, Dwaine Johnson.
