Charles Ben Simington was born May 7, 1932 in Ruthven, Iowa, the son of Charles and Clemmiesteenia Goldie (Smith) Simington. He was raised and educated in Milford, Iowa.
Charles entered the US Army November 5, 1952, serving during the Korean War, until receiving an Honorable Discharge November 4, 1954.
Charles moved back to Milford, where he worked for the Iowa Great Lakes Sanitary District for twenty-five years. He was a member of First Lutheran Church as well as American Legion Post #384 in Milford, Iowa.
Charles enjoyed carpentry, wood crafting, and attending Okoboji sporting events. He also enjoyed playing cards and having coffee with his friends.
Charles passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Avera-McKennan Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at seventy-five years of age.
Charles was preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Simington Brooks, brothers, James Simington and Dean Simington, and his parents.
He is survived by his daughters, Valerie (Greg) Mortensen of Rochelle, Illinois, and Vanessa (Ken) Potter of Milford, Iowa; and a son, Craig (Kristina) Simington of Sullivan, Missouri. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ryan, Christopher and Blake Mortensen, Danielle and Ashley Potter, and Samuel Simington; great grandchildren, Cade and Taylor Mortensen, and Allie and Caleb Mortensen; brother, Dan Simington; sisters, Cleo Hauge, Jo Ann Kemp, Opal Swanson and Doris Anderson; other family and friends.
