A funeral service for Cleoda Knoblauch, age 97, of Arnolds Park, will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016, at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Interment will be at Milford Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church.
Cleoda Clair Wright was born on September 5, 1918 to Dollie and Harold Wright. They moved to Curlew, Iowa when she was a year and a half old. She graduated from Curlew High School in 1935 (valedictorian) at the age of 16. She married Melvin Knoblauch on August 17, 1938.
They moved to Albert City, and they both worked at Superior Mfg Co until Melvin went into the Army. She worked at the Glenn L. Martin Bomber Plant in Omaha helping build B-29's while Melvin was overseas. They moved back to Albert City and raised two sons, Jerry and Dan.
In 1981, Melvin retired, and they built a house on Lake Minnewashta in Arnolds Park, Ia. She lived there for 20 years.
She died peacefully at St. Therese Care Center in New Hope, MN at age 97 and 4 months on January 16 2016.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin, son Dan and two sisters Betty and Bonnie. She leaves behind son Jerry and wife Maureen, daughter-in-law Susan, 2 grandsons Brad (Suzanne) and Adam (Kathleen); 3 great-grandsons Eric (Brittney), Logan and Kaeden; two great-granddaughters Avalon and Elsa, and one great-great-grandson Daniel, and many nieces and nephews.
