Dale Arthur Simpson was born February 5, 1937 in rural Arnolds Park, the son of George and Zada Simpson. He graduated from Arnolds Park School.
He married Rosalie Mary Wittrock on July 21, 1960. Seven children were born to complete their family. The family lived around the Terril, Everly and Marathon areas.
He farmed, sheared sheep, scraped iron, worked on the Milwaukee Railroad and later in life owned and operated Simpson Construction. He was also an independent postal contractor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and collecting old tractors. He especially loved the time he spent with his family.
Dale passed away February 15, 2011 at Lakes Regional Healthcare at seventy-four years of age.
Dale is survived by his seven children, Brenda Pomeroy of Ruthven, IA, Bruce Simpson and his wife Peggy of Sioux City, IA, Terry Simpson and his wife, Karen of Marathon, Tami Horsman and her husband, Kelly of Spirit Lake, IA, Scott Simpson and his wife Patty of Marathon, Staci Jones and her husband Vince of Clarinda, IA and Melissa Hanna and her husband Chris of Spencer, IA; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Harris; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sisters, Virginia and Erma, brother, Donald, son-in-law, Dale Pomeroy and one great-granddaughter, Maci Pomeroy.
