Dan Fisher

Funeral services for Dan Fisher, 54, of Iona, Minnesota, will be held at 6 pm, Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Visitation will begin at 4 pm Tuesday, with the family present from 4-6 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home Daniel (Dan) Fisher, the son of Vivian (Leek) and LeRoy Fisher, was born July 9, 1963 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Dan was raised on a farm in Sioux Valley, Minnesota, where he did many chores, including milking cows and farming. Dan graduated from Sioux Valley High School in 1981. After graduation, Dan went to work at Bob's Truck Stop, Worthington, Minnesota where he would visit with the many truckers as they came into the station. This is where he got his aspiration to drive semi. Eventually, he started driving for Tiesler Trucking, Fulda, Minnesota and then for the last few years with A & A Express, Inc., Brandon, South Dakota. Dan's greatest love was his two boys, Eli and Dylan. He truly enjoyed taking them with him on the truck! Dan's other passion was trucking. He always had great respect for his employer and was a dedicated employee. He drove his truck with pride and he kept it very clean. Dan was a large man in statue but anybody that knew him realized his heart was much bigger! Dan enjoyed visiting with co-workers, friends and family. During those conversations, quite often, even though Dan had a quiet demeanor, he would somehow slip a "wise crack" into the conversation and leave everybody laughing. He loved attending family events and even though he was gone on the road a great deal of the time, he would always try to make it a point to be at the event! At all our family gatherings, no matter the weather, there was always a game of football or basketball and Dan would always have on his "cowboy boots" and everybody that played with him realized it too when they had their toes stepped on! Dan passed away at his home Tuesday, April 10, 2018. Dan is survived by his two boys, Eli and Dylan of Fulda, Minnesota, his sisters, Barb (Don) Geertsema of Sioux City, Iowa, Julie (Doug) Christensen of Worthington, Minnesota and Kathy (Keith) Clark of Jackson, Minnesota; brother Dave (Diane) Fisher of Sioux Valley, Minnesota; friend, Cindy Eckstein; uncles, aunts and many nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian and LeRoy Fisher and his grandparents.
