Danny F. Nicol, age 65, passed away after a determined ten-year fight with cancer on February 14, 2011, lovingly cared for by his wife, Janet, and his two daughters, Kristin Nicol (husband, Don Andrews) of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Danielle Bartlett (husband, Gray Bartlett) of Memphis, Tennessee.
His five grandchildren who adored their Opa are Paisley, Liam, and Gannon Andrews and Evelyn and Gray Bartlett, Jr. His family, to whom he gave his unconditional love, was his greatest joy.
Dan's career as a well-respected lawyer spanned forty-one years and took him to Biloxi, Mississippi; Washington DC; Memphis, Tennessee; Dallas, Texas; and Minneapolis, Minnesota where he served the last fifteen years as General Counsel for a national commercial real estate company, Opus Corporation.
While he thrived on the challenges of his career, he found sailing, woodworking, blues music, drums and Civil War history enjoyable ways to relax. Although he loved traveling, his favorite place was Lake Okoboji.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Eileen Nicol and sister, Gail Olbertz. He is survived by his sisters, Linda (Dean) Aakhus and Bobbi (Chris) Alger.
