Darrell Sathren

Services for Mr. Darrell Sathren, 75, of Lake Park, Iowa will be held Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 2 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park, Iowa. Interment will be at Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park. There will be a visitation Friday, December 4, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park after 3;00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Darrell Devern Sathren was born on April 16, 1940 at Linton, North Dakota to Bertha and Arthur Sathren. His early childhood years were spent in Arlington, SD until moving to Lake Park in 1956. He graduated from Harris-Lake Park in 1958. He was united to Janet Joens on August 31, 1958 in Spirit Lake, Iowa and celebrated fifty-seven years together. They lived in Lake Park while they raised their children until 1981 when they moved to Spencer, Iowa. He continued working for Eaton Corporation until his retirement. In his spare time, Darrell enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to play golf, play cards and spend time with his family and friends. Darrell also loved to watch the birds at the feeders while he sat at the kitchen table. All the kids in the neighborhood knew when Darrell whistled it was either time to eat or time to go home. He passed away on December 1, 2015 at the Spencer Hospital at the age of seventy-five. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley; grandson, Matthew and great-grandson, Kade. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Jan; children, Mike (Pam) Sathren of Glenwood, Iowa, Shelli (Ron) Nissen of Lake Park, Iowa and Deb (Jeff) Albert of Valley Springs, South Dakota; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
