Darrell Glenwood Wells was born at home near Milford, Iowa on March 9, 1917 to Glenn and L'Nora (Rute) Wells. He attended Excelsior and Lake Park schools, graduating from Lake Park High School in 1936.
On February 20, 1944 Darrell was united in marriage to LeOra Claus. Darrell and LeOra farmed northwest of Ocheyedan for thirty-eight years and retired to their present home in Lake Park in 1981. His passing ends a marriage partnership of over sixty-four years.
Darrell was baptized, confirmed and married at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Ocheyedan. He was an active member at Zion, serving in many offices of the church and singing in the choir. He was also active in the Lutheran Layman's League. After moving to Lake Park, he was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church until his death. Being in church and serving his Lord was very important to him.
Until his health would no longer allow it, he enjoyed hunting, especially with his grandson's, playing horseshoe, and pool. He also was a very good dancer and loved to dance.
