David Kindwall

April 14, 1971 — May 31, 2023

David Eric Kindwall, 52, of Knoxville, TN passed away Memorial Day Weekend, 2023 due to undetermined causes. A celebration of life will be held at 5:30 pm on Monday, June 19 at Faith Promise Church (North Knoxville Location) in Knoxville, TN.  A visitation will take place prior to the service from 4:00-5:30 at the church in Knoxville.  A private family burial will be held at Lakeview Garden Cemetery in Spirit Lake, IA on Monday, June 26 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to gather for a visitation at First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake from 10:00-11:00am on Monday, June 26.

David was born April 14, 1971 in Skokie Valley, Illinois to parents, Ronald and Janet (Cook) Kindwall.  He was also welcomed to his Arlington Heights, IL home by siblings, Jim, Nancy, Susan and Amy.  David was an adorable, chubby cheeked, red-headed little boy who was loved dearly by his family. He was baptized at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheeling, IL. The Kindwalls moved to Iowa where David excelled in school in Spencer, eventually receiving the distinction of State of Iowa Scholar and becoming Senior Class President of the Estherville High School Class of ‘89.

David was a happy, neat, and organized child. He always seemed to have a book in his hand and loved reading World Book Encyclopedias. In high school, he was involved in drama, speech, choir, mock trial, and tennis. He attended Northwestern College, Orange City, IA and eventually graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

David married Lee McCollough on August 6, 2005 at Hilton Head Island, SC. They lived in Greenville, SC and Knoxville, TN. To this union two wonderful sons were born, Carson in 2006 and Owen in 2012. He loved being a father and was so proud of his sons.  David was a Boy Scout leader and enjoyed cheering the boys on in sports and music activities.

David worked in the mortgage loan industry and enjoyed helping people to get financing allowing them to purchase homes.

David was a good man with a huge heart. He loved his family, was compassionate to others, and had a knack for humor. He was artistic, had an eye for photography, and was a life-long learner and reader. David always wanted to do the next right thing and trusted in God to help him one day at a time.

David is survived by his sons Carson (16), Owen (10), and their mother Lee Kindwall of Knoxville, Tennessee; his mother Janet Kindwall of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Siblings Jim Kindwall (Lisa) of Beaufort, South Carolina, Nancy Johnson (Norv) of Milford, Iowa, Susan Muyskens (Dennis) of Mason City, Iowa, and Amy Kueper (Douglas) of Spirit Lake, Iowa; and many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, friends, and his supportive AA community.

David was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Kindwall, and infant brother, Ronald Kindwall Jr., his grandparents, Wesley and Myra Kindwall and Elwood and Lucille Cook, and his great-niece Kallie Limbaugh.

In lieu of flowers and memorials, the family requests that donations be made toward an education fund for David’s sons, Carson and Owen. A gofundme account,
