A memorial service for David Perkins, age 63, of Lake Park, will be held Monday, September 19, 2016 at 2:00pm at the United Methodist Church in Lake Park. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 18th after 3:00pm with the family present from 3:00-5:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Lake Park. David Everett Perkins, the son of Virgil and Estella (Dodds) Perkins, was born October 12, 1952 in Spencer, Iowa. He was raised in Spirit Lake where he attended elementary school until 3rd grade. The family then moved to a farm near Lake Park where David graduated from Harris Lake Park High School in 1970. On May 23, 1987, he was married to Kathryn (Ihnen) Gembler. With this union, they combined three boys to the family; Dave brought Kiley and Kevin while Kathy brought Shon. In Dave's earlier years, he worked in several areas including construction, Arnolds Grain Elevator, farmed on the family farm, operated Town and Country Tree Service and Schierholt Implement. He was currently working at Rosenboom Machine and Tool. Dave was a member of the Excelsior Methodist Church, Jaycees, Town and Country Booster and Iowa Great Lakes Saddle Club. He also served on the Lake Park ambulance team and Silver Lake Sportsman Club. Some of Dave's hobbies were hunting, snowmobiling, horseback riding, boating, auto racing and watching his 'beloved' Green Bay Packers. He also loved to play cards on Saturday mornings, Sunday cruises around town and enjoyed the occasional PBR. Dave passed away September 15, 2016 at his home in Lake Park at sixty-three years of age. He was survived by his wife, Kathryn Perkins; sons, Shon (Missy) Gembler, Kiley (Amanda) Perkins and Kevin (Jennifer) Perkins, all of Lake Park; grandchildren, Ryan and Shandy Gembler, Bryce and Braydan Perkins and Taylor, Emma and Connor Perkins; mother, Estella Perkins; sisters, Darlene Wallin and Alice (Ray) VonHoldt; and many nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Everett Perkins; grandparents; brother, Virgil Lee Perkins; and brother-in-law, Dennis Wallin.
