David Rowlands

A memorial service for David Rowlands, age 70, of Spirit Lake, will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Ruthven, Iowa. David Sherwood Rowlands, the son of Peg and Sherwood "Woody" Rowlands, was born July 23, 1948 in Spencer, Iowa. David graduated from Harris Lake Park Community School. He lived most of his life at Lost Island Lake near Ruthven, Iowa, Lake Park and Spirit Lake. Dave enjoyed history and sports trivia, visiting with everyone and believed there were no strangers, only friends he hadn't met yet. He adored his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir, at nursing homes or karaoke. Dave passed away November 29, 2018 at Sioux Center Health in Sioux Center, Iowa at seventy years of age. He is survived by his sister, Linda (Steve) Brueggeman of Lake Park; brother, Ervin (Ann) Rowlands of Altoona, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Wade Brueggeman and Emily, Jonathan and Megan Brueggeman, Joshua Brueggeman and Tara, Kyle and Casey Brueggeman, Shane Rowlands, Kelli and Trenton Keefer, Katie and Scott Blaha and Andrew Rowlands and Kayla; ten great-nieces and great-nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, S.K. "Woody" Rowlands, Peg Rowlands McAdams; grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and a special friend, Betty.
