Deloris Muriel Larsen was born May 28, 1930 to Renold and Mildred (Ottjes) Lecy in Racine, Minnesota. She graduated from Austin, Minnesota high school in 1948.
Deloris married Elmer Larsen on September 15, 1951 in Brownsdale, Minnesota. They lived in Brownsdale before moving to Lake Park, Iowa in 1959 upon purchasing Dane's Café and Bowling Alley which eventually became Larsen's Cafe and Lounge. Throughout the years they also owned the Theater and Drive-in. Deloris worked as a cook at Camp Okoboji Lutheran Camp after she retired. She served as the first female City Council member for 12 years and was also Lake Park Mayor Pro-tem during that time.
She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Ladies Guild, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Library Board. Her interests included crafts, holidays, playing cards with her friends and beating Elmer at Cribbage. She loved the town of Lake Park, cooking and baking for others, and shopping. Deloris loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, church, decorating for the holidays, a good book and traveling.
Deloris passed away March 29, 2013, at the Lake Park Care Center at eighty two years of age.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Elmer; children, Dave (Regina) Larsen from Belmond, Iowa, Nick Larsen from May City, Iowa, Erik (Joan) Larsen from Montgomery, Iowa, Erin (David) Wynn from Scottsdale, Arizona; brother, Jerold (Sherry) Lecy; brother-in-law, Carl (Evelyn) Larsen; grandchildren, Dylen, Nathan, Carey, Emily, Ian, Kelsy, Katie, Dane, Kyah; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Liv, Dillon and Shelby, Darian, Dakota, Christopher, Danica, Marlie, Tatum.
Deloris was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, August Larsen; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Larsen and Helen Larsen.
