Don Lago

Memorials may be sent to the family at 921 27th Street, Spirit Lake, Iowa 51360 Donald Raymond Lago was born May 19, 1930 in May City, Iowa the son of Leon "Jeff" and Ethel (Wood) Lago. He was raised and educated in Lake Park, graduating from Lake Park High School. Don was united in marriage to Phyllis Fronk on November 11, 1950, in Jackson, Minnesota. In the spring of 1954, the couple moved to a farm near Montgomery, Iowa to begin a life-long farm operation. Don was a member of the United Methodist Church, first in Montgomery and later in Spirit Lake. He was a member of Twilight Lodge 329 in Spirit Lake., and served on Spirit Lake Community School Board for ten years. Don was an outdoorsman and an avid sports fan and an Iowa State Cyclones supporter. He enjoyed golfing, "the lake", fishing, baseball and most of all, being a farmer. He loved his children and was proud to be their father while at the same time he adored his grandchildren. Don passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake at eighty-four years of age. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; children, Nancy Reiman, Larry Lago and his wife Marcie, John Lago and his wife Jackie, and Doug Lago and his wife Amy; grandchildren, Dan Reiman, Lisa Reiman, Austin Lago and his wife Laura, Ashley Follett and her husband Rob, Morgan Lago, Madison Lago, Taylor Lago, Lauren Lago and Ellie Lago; great grandchildren, Addyson Lago, Henry Follett and Lily Follett. Don is also survived by sisters, Irene, Lois, Arlis and Joanne and their spouses. He was preceded in death by his parents, baby sister Janice and brothers, Wayne and Lowell.
