Gaylin Duane Gould was born November 16, 1924, the son of Nathan and Agnes (Tweet) Gould. He was raised and educated near Milford, graduating from Okoboji Consolidated School. He entered the US Army and served his country at the end of WW II.
Duane was united in marriage to Shirley Clark on June 18, 1953 in Milford. The couple made their home five miles west of Milford, where he farmed and raised cattle.
Duane was a member of Union Memorial Church in Milford. He had been active on the Milford Elevator Board, the American Legion, Farm Bureau and Land O' Lakes. He loved baseball, cattle, reading, chocolate "anything", Pepsi, puttering and fixing things. Above all, Duane loved spending time with his family.
Duane passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Milford Nursing Center in Milford at eighty-seven years of age.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley; children, Gary Gould (Donna), Gaye Ann De Muth (Rick), Diane Wahlman (Eric) and Connie Purchase (Dennis); grandchildren Jamie De Muth, Gina Billings (Zac), Jared De Muth, Josh Stouffer, Sarah Gould, Jennifer Amesquita (Kevin), Miranda Gould, and Stephanie Wahlman; great grandchildren, Finn and Farren Billings. Also surviving are a brother, Harlan Gould; sister, Marje Brueggeman; sisters-in-law, Inez Gould, Charlotte Gould and Barb Gould; nieces, nephews and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nate and Agnes Gould; brothers, Donald, Charles, Nathan and Allen Dean Gould;sister, Norma Jean Yadauga and brothers-in-law, Bud Brueggeman and George Yadauga.
