Edna E. Woods was born March 2, 1910 in Wessington Springs, South Dakota, the daughter of Edward and Olive (Wilson) Kumba. She graduated from Lake Center High School and Augustana College.
Edna was united in marriage to P. Ashton Woods on May 30, 1941 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Edna worked at home raising her two boys as well as taught for thirty years in the Montgomery, Excelsior and Spirit Lake School Systems.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Rebeccas Lodge, Legion Auxiliary and the Northwest Aging Association. She was active in starting the RSVP program and was on the Cancer Board for many years. She enjoyed to crochet for the Upper Des Moines Mitten Club and also enjoyed reading.
Edna passed away August 8, 2010 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa at one hundred years of age.
Edna was survived by her two sons, Dennis O. Woods (Jane) of Clackamus, Oregon and John Woods (Christie) of Lake Park, Iowa; four grandchildren, Cari, Miranda, Vijay and Catherine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Ashton Woods; parents; five brothers and two sisters
