Our Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, & Mother-in-Law was an amazing lady. If there was ever a real June and Ward Cleaver household, that would have been our home! Eileen was eighty-nine years old this past December 7, living independently until the end and continued to be a very good driver, never going over the speed limit.
Eileen was a volunteer at Lake Park Nursing home for the past eighteen years and absolutely loved it. Additionally, she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Lakes Regional Healthcare and sang at many weddings and funerals at her parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spirit Lake, where she was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Our precious mother was the most caring person you will ever have met.
Eileen married Bud Petersen on January 30, 1951 in Evansville, Indiana. During their life together, they lived in Sutherland, Calumet, Spirit Lake and Lake Park. While in Sutherland, they operated a butcher shop with Bud's brother, Pete. In addition to being a homemaker and amazing mother, the couple owned and operated Lakes Driving Range in Okoboji, Iowa. They enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, Bingo, traveling, and, most of all, spending time with their family-they definitely married their best friend.
Eileen passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, surrounded by family at eighty-nine years of age.
She is survived by her children, Mark Petersen (Krise) of Brainerd, Minnesota, Tony Petersen (Betty) of Pensacola, Florida and Dee Baloun (Greg) of Lake Park; grandchildren Mike, Kelli, Dusty, Alissa, Zack, Nila, Nate, Rachel, Jon and David as well as great-grandchildren, Nya, Brecken, Aidan, Jake and Sienna.
She will rejoin her husband, Bud Petersen, brothers Chuck Moore and Leo Moore sister Muriel Martin as well as many other relatives and great friends.
