Eldon Carlson

A funeral service for Eldon Carlson, age 94, of Spirit Lake, will be held Monday, September 21, 2015 at 10:30am at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Burial will be at Lakeview Gardens Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 20th after 2:00pm with the family present from 2:00-4:30pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Eldon Morris Carlson, son of Erick and Esther (Anderson) Carlson was born November 8, 1920, in Lincoln Lee Township, Iowa. Eldon was united in marriage to Frances Mueller of Peterson, Iowa at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple made their home in rural Marathon, where they farmed and raised their family. Upon retirement in 1989, the couple moved to Spirit Lake. Eldon was a member of First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji, Iowa. He enjoyed golfing, boating and anything to do with aviation. He enjoyed his coffee time with his family and friends and enjoyed traveling south in the winter with his wonderful wife. His seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren were a source of great joy and pride. Eldon passed away Monday, September 14, 2015 at Wel-Cov Assisted Living in Spirit Lake at the age of ninety-four. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Larry (Dee) Carlson of DePere, Wisconsin, Bob Carlson of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and John (Kim) Carlson of Lee's Summit, Missouri; grandchildren, Adam (Ashley) Carlson and Nick (Kasey) Carlson, Michelle and Julia Carlson, Wendy (Steve) Krupke, Wade (Jamie) Carlson and Weston (Lilly) Carlson; great-grandchildren, Cooper and Benjamin Carlson (sons of Adam), Alex and Logan (sons of Wendy Krupke), Cali, Lydia and Brody Carlson (children of Weston Carlson), and Ella and Zoey Frances Carlson (daughters of Wade Carlson); other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Erick and Esther; wife, Frances; sister, Vivian and brothers, Don and Ernie.
