Ellen Mae Voss

Ellen Mae Voss, the daughter of Hans and Frieda (Wunder) Jansen, was born September 17, 1926 in Lake Park, Iowa. She graduated from Lake Park High School and continued her education at a teacher's college. On June 13, 1948, Ellen was united in marriage to Vernon Voss in Lake Park. They lived in Sioux Valley, Minnesota and wintered in Mission, Texas. The couple moved to Spirit Lake in 1986. Ellen was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed reading, baking and gardening and was a fan of the Twins, Vikings and the University of Minnesota teams. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and all of their activities. Ellen passed away May 7, 2013 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake at eighty-six years of age. She is survived by her husband, Vernon of Spirit Lake; three daughters, Susan (Doug) Pohlman of Lakefield, Minnesota, Julie (Mark) Dillehay of Harris, Iowa and Deb (Greg) Crisman of Lakefield, Minnesota; one son, Jeffrey (Kathy) Voss of Jackson, Minnesota; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Irma and Dorothy; two brothers, Eldon and Leonard.
