Ellsworth Tatman

A funeral service for Ellsworth Tatman, age 87, of Milford, will be held Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 10:30 at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Burial will be at Milford Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, October 9th after 4:00pm with the family present from 5:00-7:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Ellsworth Tatman was born March 27, 1928, the son of Roy and Murtle (Blunt) Tatman, in Milford, Iowa. He was raised in rural Milford, graduating from Arnolds Park High School. He was united in marriage to Jeane Swenson on July 11, 1948 in Milford. They made their home northwest of Milford, where they farmed and raised their family. Ellsworth was a member of Little Sioux Lutheran Church, in rural Milford, and later, First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. He enjoyed horses, dancing and reading western books (especially Louie Lamour). He also enjoyed wintering in Arizona, where he played pool, cards and shuffleboard. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family and attending grandchildren's activities. Ellsworth passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Hawkeye Nursing Center in Milford at eighty-seven years of age. He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Jeane Tatman; son, Craig Tatman (Sue), of Cocoa, Florida, their children Mike Tatman and Bret Tatman (Candance); daughter, Jana Bruns (Randy), of Ankeny, their children, Annie Barner (Dane) and Brian Bruns; son, Kip Tatman (Mary), of Tamarac, Florida, their children, Josh Beekmann (Krista), Jennifer Foley (Bob) and Alex Tatman (Jenna). He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Jack and Ben Barner, Lily, Logan and Lauren Beekmann, and Vivian Tatman; brothers, Irvin and Elwin Tatman; several nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, special aunt and uncle, George and Grace Goettsche and granddaughter, Christine Bruns.
