A funeral service for Estella Perkins, 95, of Lake Park will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Lake Park. Visitation will begin at the Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Lake Park on Friday, November 18, 2016 after 4:00 p.m. with the family present at the funeral home Friday evening from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer, Iowa.
Estella Mae Perkins, the daughter of Amy (Smith) and John Dodds, was born February 17, 1921 in Nevada, Iowa.
On April 20, 1940, Estella was united in marriage to Virgil Perkins in Spencer, Iowa. The couple lived in Spencer and Spirit Lake before moving to Lake Park, Iowa in 1962 where Estella worked at home while Virgil farmed for several years.
Estella was a member of the Excelsior United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women group. She was also was a 4-H leader, member of the garden club and enjoyed fishing, playing cards and bingo, cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed her time with her family and friends.
Estella passed away November 12, 2016 at Keelson Harbour Assisted Living in Spirit Lake, Iowa at ninety-five years of age.
She is survived by two daughters, Darlene Wallin of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Alice Von Holdt and her husband, Ray, of Lake Park, Iowa; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Estella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil; seven brothers and two sisters; two sons, Virgil Lee and David Perkins; one son-in-law, Dennis Wallin.
