Evelyn M. Glover

A funeral service for Evelyn Glover, age 87, of Milford, will be held Monday, February 15, 2016 at 10:00AM at Union Memorial Church in Milford. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Terril. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 14th from 5:00-7:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Evelyn Marie (Calvert) Glover was born on Dec. 31, 1928, in Ames, Iowa to Perle and Ethel (Shay) Calvert. She spent her childhood in Sioux City, Iowa and graduated from East High School in 1947. After graduation, she attended Ellis Beauty School. On June 6, 1948, Evelyn was married to Allen Glover and to this union were born four children: Bev, Bob, Bonnie and Barb. Evelyn worked as a beautician for sixty-two years and reveled in the time she spent with all of her customers who always became friends. She also owned Ev's Beauty & Boutique in uptown Milford. She was a trailblazer in the business of beauty. Evelyn was a very dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star in which she held many offices. She was a member of Union Memorial Church, belonged to Ruth Circle and was willing to help with anything that was needed in the church. She enjoyed playing cards, especially for her New Year's Eve birthday party. She also loved doing floral arrangements, sewing, crafting, puzzles and games. She delighted in cooking for large crowds and having family and friends over for holidays and reunions. She never met a stranger. Al and Ev opened their home and their hearts to everyone. The kindness and generosity of their unconditional love will never be forgotten. Evelyn passed away peacefully on Feb. 10, 2016, at Scottish Rite Park in Des Moines, IA at eighty-seven years of age. Evelyn is survived by her children, Bev (Dwight) Rutter of Spencer, Iowa, son Bob (Jill) Glover of Milford, Iowa, Bonnie Glover of Ankeny, Iowa and Barb Clark of Clive, Iowa; special son, Rick Kilts; ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Allen; grandson, Jason Rutter and her parents.
