Evelyn Rose Marchand was born September 21, 1917 in rural Milford, Iowa, the daughter of P.J. & Tillie Donelon. Evelyn was raised and educated in Milford, graduating from Milford High School.
On March 3, 1938, Evelyn was united in marriage to John Palmer Marchand in Jackson, Minnesota. The couple first made their home in Milford, until they moved out of state for a brief period to work in the WWII war effort, until John was able to volunteer for military service.
Evelyn was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court 1584 and the Rosary Altar Society. She has been active as a RSVP volunteer in the past, an avid gardener, and was a meticulous housekeeper. She also enjoyed many hours of peaceful & successful fishing with her husband, John.
Evelyn passed away March 5, 2011 at the Milford Nursing Center in Milford at ninety-three years of age.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Marchand, parents, P.J. & Tillie Donelon, siblings, Betty Finerty, Marge Donelon, Joe Donelon and Leo Donelon.
Left to survive her are her children, Betty Wente and her husband, Harold, of Emmetsburg, Iowa, and Ron Marchand, of Milford; grandchildren, Susan Wente-Hardy, Dennis Wente, David Wente and Laura Marchand; great-grandchildren, Allison Hardy, Lindsay Hardy, Jared Wente and Andrew Wente; several nieces and nephews as well as many friends.
