Florence Luehring

October 23, 1932 — January 21, 2015

Visitation will begin at 4 pm Friday, January 23, 2015 at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford with the family present from 4-7 pm. Services will be at 1:30 pm Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Terril, Iowa. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Terril. Florence Ann Luehring, the daughter of Irene (Whaley) and Harry Straight, was born October 23, 1932 in Storm Lake, Iowa. On July 5, 1953, Florence married to Dale Luehring in Newell, Iowa. The couple lived in rural Terril where they raised their five children. Florence worked as an elementary school teacher, study hall supervisor and a librarian for several years. Florence was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Terril where she served as the church choir director and on the Zone Ladies Aid organization. Family was very important to Florence as she enjoyed her family vacations to Colorado and having her grandchildren visit. She loved playing the piano and keyboard, reading, square dancing, bird watching and enjoyed her winters in Arizona. She also enjoyed having dinner with friends after church on Sundays. Florence passed away January 21, 2015 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at eighty-two years of age. She is survived by her husband, Dale; children, Roger (Terri) Luehring of Gladbrook, Iowa, Marjorie (Richard) Insko of Manson, Iowa, Jane Banas of Marshalltown, Iowa, David (Brenda) Luehring of Terril, Iowa and Diane (Paul) Kollasch of Spirit Lake; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Charlotte (Bruce) Mehlhop and brother, Donald (Faye) Straight. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Irene Straight.
