A funeral service for Frank Franek, age 92, of Lake Park will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 11:00am at Concordia Lutheran Church in Lake Park. Visitation will begin at 10:00am at the church on Tuesday. Frank passed away July 18, 2014 at his home in Lake Park.
Frank Franek, the son of William and Hazel (Huckins) Franek, was born July 6, 1922 in Gann Valley, South Dakota.
Frank was proud of serving with the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in Japan. Frank was discharged in 1946, and later traveled to Lake Park, IA where he met Delphia Petersen. They were married in Jackson, MN on September 19, 1949. After a short stint with Arco and Clayton Arnold, Frank was hired by the Dickinson Co. Supervisor, G.C. Ruwe. Frank worked as an equipment operator/foreman over the next 37 years, retiring in 1985.
Frank attended Concordia Lutheran Church in Lake Park since 1953 and helped in the construction of the building they are currently holding worship in. He served as a trustee, chairman of the congregation and Sunday School Superintendant. Frank served as a volunteer fireman with the Lake Park Fire Department and was a member of the American Legion, Post 371.
He enjoyed bowling, fishing, pheasant hunting and gardening, sharing baskets of vegetables with friends and neighbors. Above all else, he enjoyed time spent with all his grandchildren and will be remembered by all those close to him for his numerous stories over the years.
Frank passed away July 18, 2014 at his home in Lake Park, Iowa at ninety-two years of age.
Frank is survived by his wife of 64 years, Delphia; one daughter, Delfa Rosenberg of Elkhart, IN; two sons, Frank (Val) Franek Jr. of Lake Park, IA and Craig (Debbie) Franek of Terrell, TX; grandchildren, Stacey (Cindy) Christopher, Heidi, Shawn (Carolyn), Shelby (Sara), Jason (Michelle), Wade, Sheila, Samantha (Joshua) and Tina (Jon); great-grandchildren, Broderic, Myles, Austin, Harley, Madisyn, Braylon, Coley, Nicholas, Mason, Trenton, Anthony, Carter, Brandon, Carson and Makayla; one great-great-grandson, Jaxon; three sisters, Elsie (Bill) Carlson of Mitchell, SD, Connie (Gene) Hamilton of Mitchell, SD and Minnie Ripley of Anaheim, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry; grandson, Travis; son-in-law, Roger Rosenberg; three brothers, John, Robert and Edward; two sisters, Anna and Wilma.
