A visitation for Gary Beatty, 74, of Ruthven and formerly of Hartley, will be Sunday, September 10, 2017, from 3 - 5 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford.
Gary passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Ruthven Care Center in Ruthven.
Gary Lester Beatty was born January 4, 1943, the son of Lester Harold and Emma Naomi (Harker) Beatty in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Spirit Lake, graduating from Spirit Lake High School.
Gary was united in marriage to Alice E. Hardman on January 14, 1966. Gary and Alice were married for eleven years. On August 11, 1979, he married Mary L. Soat. The couple made their home in rural Ocheyedan, Iowa and then, Hartley, Iowa, upon retirement.
Gary was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hartley, Iowa. He was a proud farmer, and loved his animals. He enjoyed latch hooking, string art, as well as wood working and painting.
Gary passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Ruthven Community Care Center in Ruthven, Iowa at seventy-four years of age.
Gary is survived by his wife, Mary Beatty of Ruthven; daughters LyRae Beatty of Waterloo, Iowa, and Janet Stanley and her husband, Shane of Everly, Iowa; grandchildren, Shawna and Kyle Tankersley of Barre, Massachusetts; brother, Tom Soat of Milford. Also surviving are his "grandpuppies", Diesel Bleu and Molly.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
