Gary Kane

February 28, 1942 — July 27, 2010

Gary Dean Kane was born February 28, 1942 in Spencer, Iowa, the son of William and Elvera ( Crist ) Kane. He was raised and educated in Milford, graduating from Milford High School. Following high school, Gary served in the US Army. Gary loved his farm and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed Black Angus cattle and Quarter Horse breeding, team cow sorting, team roping, hunting and fishing, camping, trail riding, the Rocky Mountains and Horsemanship. Gary was a member of Iowa Cattleman's Association, American Angus Association, American Quarter Horse Association, Clay County Farm Bureau, 4-H, Iowa Great Lakes Saddle Club, Pony Express of Iowa, and Osceola County Roping Association. Gary was a man who lived, laughed & worked equally hard. His family and farming were his life and he never believed in a job done halfheartedly. If he was not up at daybreak, he missed the best part of the day. A handshake was all that was required. His friends came from all walks of life and he sacrificed for friend and family without thought or acknowledgment. Actions always spoke louder than words. Cattle and horses were his passion. He's now riding Ginger working cattle and waiting on Doc in green green pastures, where horses never buck or go lame and the cattle are all fat. His cornfields are tall and straight as an arrow. Hay is plentiful and always put up dry. He's riding into the sunset grinning ear to ear. Gary passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Spencer Municipal Hospital at sixty-eight years of age. He is survived by his children, Brian Kane of Bozeman, Montana, Lance Kane of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Stacy Kane of Indianapolis, Indiana; granddaughter, Rachel Kane; brother, Bill Kane; sister, Judy Kramer; other family and many friends.
