Genevieve Baschke

Genevieve Emma Baschke was born October 30, 1918 in Milford, Iowa, the daughter of Peter J. and Charlotte S. (Albrecht) Diederich. She was raised on the Diederich farm northwest of Milford. Genevieve attended the St. Joseph Catholic Church as well as St. Joseph Catholic School from first grade to tenth grade. She then attended Milford High School, graduating in 1937. She worked for Ray Lund at his "Jack Sprat Food Store" after graduation. In 1940, Genevieve married Ed Baschke. The couple lived on a farm east of Milford. Genevieve was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America and two card clubs. Genevieve passed away December 17, 2011 at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, Iowa at ninety-three years of age. She is survived by her two sons, James and his wife, Sally, of Spencer, Iowa and Bob of Storm Lake, Iowa; one daughter, Karen Woodford of Spencer; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, in 1988; her parents; sister, Zita and Lois; son-in-law, Dale Woodford.
